Save Your Ash Chicago Mission Statement
Our mission is to educate and advocate for Chicago to continue and expand its program to treat and preserve all of the existing treatable Chicago public parkway ash trees from the Emerald Ash Borer. EAB is an insect that without treatment will kill them within the next few years.
Our advocacy is directed at persuading the Mayor and the City Council to include funding in the 2024 budget, to be voted on in the fall of 2023, and directing the Bureau of Forestry to treat the 43,000 street parkway ash trees for EAB. See our Objective 2023 for details.
We are using multiple strategies to accomplish this including: advocating with alderpeople and the mayor, public comment at City Council, social media campaigns, and connecting with potential allies.
